A tithi begins and ends at the same moment everywhere, so two cities in the same time zone show the same times; the city matters when it is in another time zone, or when sunrise decides which day a tithi belongs to. A tithi's day is the day at whose sunrise it is present (a tithi that falls between two sunrises is placed on the day it occurs in). Times are for the chosen city, with the Sun and Moon on the Lahiri sidereal zodiac, and may differ from other panchangs by a few minutes; Sankranti times by up to about 20 minutes. Where a tithi covers two sunrises, Smarta and Vaishnava traditions may keep it on different days, so confirm with your own tradition. Months are counted from new moon to new moon; Ekadashi names follow the north Indian count. The tithi and Sankranti follow Surya Siddhanta and Phaladeepika (ch. 12); the traditional names of the Ekadashis are from tradition.

Each day is worked out from the real positions of the Sun and Moon for your city, not copied from a table. A tithi is the Moon's angle from the Sun in steps of 12°; Ekadashi is the 11th tithi of each half of the month, Purnima the 15th of the bright half and Amavasya the 30th. A Sankranti is the moment the Sun enters a new sign, and the twelve are named after the signs (Makara Sankranti is the best known). See also the Aaj Ka Panchang for any single day.
